The Problem

The Youth Baseball Injury Crisis

Youth baseball should be fun. But right now, it’s becoming dangerous. The problem no one talks about—until it’s too late.
0 %
Of all UCL reconstructions in the U.S. are now performed on 15-19 year olds.
1 in 0
Youth pitchers report elbow or shoulder pain during a season.
0 %
Over 50% of youth baseball players play year-round with no rest.

Why is this happening?

“Most UCL tears are not freak accidents. They result from predictable movement patterns, strength imbalances, and neuromuscular control deficits.”

The stakes: A preventable injury at age 13 can derail a promising baseball career before it even begins.
The Solution

What Is Pitch Safe™?

A Year-Round Arm Care Program for Youth Baseball Players.

Pitch Safe™ is a comprehensive injury-prevention and performance program designed for youth baseball players ages Little League through high school.

The program focuses on proper throwing mechanics, arm-care routines, shoulder- and elbow-specific strength and mobility training, education on pitch counts and recovery, and the safe integration of training tools.

Whether your athlete is:

  • A pitcher looking to throw harder and stay healthy

  • A position player who wants to improve arm strength

  • Recovering from a throwing injury

  • Trying to earn a spot on a competitive team

Pitch Safe™ provides the knowledge, training, and support to keep them throwing—for the long haul.

Prevention isn't about being careful.

It’s about training your body to move correctly automatically.

The Solution

The Root Causes of Youth Baseball Injuries

Why Kids Are Getting Hurt (And How to Prevent It)

1. Year-Round Specialization

Playing baseball 12 months a year doesn’t allow the arm to recover. Growth plates in young athletes are particularly vulnerable to overuse stress.
Solution: Rest cycles, off-season training, and multi-sport participation.

2. Excessive Pitch Counts

Many youth leagues don’t enforce proper pitch count limits, and players often pitch for multiple teams in the same weekend.
Solution: Education on evidence-based pitch count guidelines and mandatory rest.

3. Poor Mechanics

Improper mechanics place excessive stress on the shoulder and elbow—especially when fatigued.
Solution: Video analysis to teach efficient, injury-resistant patterns.

4. Lack of Strength

Weak or imbalanced shoulder and scapular muscles can’t handle the demands of repetitive throwing.
Solution: Build strength, stability, and mobility through targeted exercises.

What's Included in Pitch Safe™

01
Baseline Assessment & Individualized Plan

Every athlete starts with a comprehensive evaluation: throwing mechanics analysis, shoulder and elbow range of motion, strength testing, movement screening, and a review of injury history.

Based on the findings, we design a customized program that includes dynamic warm-ups, arm-care exercises, core training, and recovery protocols.

02
Throwing Mechanics Instruction

We teach efficient, low-stress throwing patterns: proper arm path and sequencing, lower-body engagement, consistent timing and release point, and red flags that indicate mechanical breakdown.

2
SalinasPT - Pitch Safe - 8
03
Pitch Count & Recovery Education

We educate athletes and parents on age-appropriate pitch count guidelines, required rest days between outings, warning signs of overuse, and the dangers of pitching on multiple teams.

3

04
Advanced Training Tools (Age-Appropriate)

When implemented correctly, long toss builds arm strength and improves mechanics.

For older athletes (typically 14+), we introduce safe, structured weighted-ball protocols to develop arm speed—only after the athlete is developmentally ready.

Ongoing Monitoring & Adjustments

We track workload, symptoms, and performance throughout the year and adjust training as needed.

Program Structure

Our program adapts to the baseball calendar: building strength and mobility in the off-season, gradually returning to throwing in the pre-season, maintaining arm health during competition, and emphasizing recovery in the off-season.

Group Training
Small group sessions (4-6 athletes) for team-based training

Individual Training
One-on-one programming for personalized attention

Team Partnerships
We work with local travel ball organizations and high school programs

Evidence-Based Pitch Count Guidelines

Additional Recommendations
  • No more than 100 innings pitched per year (across all teams)
  • At least 3-4 months off from competitive pitching per year
  • Never pitch on consecutive days or for multiple teams in the same weekend
Red Flags
Elbow or shoulder pain, decreased velocity or control, changes in mechanics, or complaints of fatigue lasting multiple days.

Pitch Safe™ in Action

Why Pitch Safe™ Works

The Science of Arm Care. Research-Backed Principles:

Proper mechanics reduce injury risk

Studies show poor mechanics increase stress on the elbow and shoulder

Strength matters

Rotator cuff and scapular strength reduce injury rates in pitchers

Rest is non-negotiable

Pitching on inadequate rest dramatically increases UCL injury risk

Pitch counts save arms

Strict adherence to age-appropriate limits reduces overuse injuries

Prevention works

Structured arm care programs reduce injury rates by up to 50%

Frequently Asked Questions

What age is appropriate for Pitch Safe™?

We work with athletes from Little League (ages 8-9) through high school (18). Programming is age-appropriate and developmentally scaled.

Does my athlete need to be a pitcher?

No! All baseball players—pitchers, infielders, outfielders, catchers—benefit from proper arm care and throwing mechanics.

What if my child is already experiencing arm pain?

Contact us immediately. We’ll evaluate the cause and develop a treatment plan. Never pitch through pain.

Do you work with travel ball teams?

Most athletes and active adults notice strength improvements within 4-6 weeks. Significant performance gains typically occur within 8-12 weeks of consistent training.

Protect Your Athlete's Arm
